Pistols & Promises

Steve has been gone every weekend this summer for his Ranger job over at Bear Lake. Two weekends ago he was home for the first time in months and did NOT have to work at the Sheriff's Office!!! So, we planned a family drive up the canyon and thought it would be fun to take his new gun and target. The leaves were all just starting to turn red and it was absolutely beautiful! Steve gave Cali a lesson in gun safety and shot it once. When Steve asked her if she wanted to shoot again she said, "Um, no - that's okay." I guess once was enough for her :)

Steve's a pretty good shot. I only hit the target once. It's really hard to aim a pistol, especially one as small as his. (It started raining when it was my turn, so I'll blame my bad shots on the rain!)

When we were driving home, stretched across the sky was the most vibrant, full-arch rainbow that I've ever seen! As we turned on the street below the Temple, this is what we saw:

The sky was just black, the sun was shinning right where we were and the colors were so bold. The picture doesn't show just how brillian the rainbow was, but it was the most beautiful reminder of God's promise to His children. The funny thing was that the whole street below the Temple was lined with cars and people, like me, sticking their cameras through the fence to take pictures. I'm so glad I got to see this and that I just happened to have a camera!
